About
Joseph McCarty graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1974. Immediately after graduation, he worked a year as a Vista volunteer in Chicago, rehabilitating housing in Chicago’s south and west side. He then worked as an architect in Wisconsin and Connecticut. He moved to Stuart, Florida in 1981 and was employed by Fenton, Hoon and White working on condominiums and time shares. He then worked with Wessel, Tosch and Erickson designing custom homes. He received his State of Florida Architectural license (9639) in 1883, and opened his own office in 1984. His primary business activity is the design of custom homes and residential additions and remodeling.
Mr. McCarty loves working with clients throughout the design and construction of their homes. His homes reside in Stuart, Sewall’s Point, High Point, Hutchinson Island, Mariner Sands, Willoughby, Harbour Point, Sailfish Point, Snug Harbor and Martin County. In addition, he has designed several homes on the beach along the Treasure Coast as well as homes in Green Turtle Cay, and Guana Cay in the Bahamas.
Additionally Mr. McCarty works with commercial structures, new buildings and commercial build outs. Mr. McCarty prides himself in attention to detail and personal service. His design intent is to provide beautiful, individual, functional homes that fit well on the lot and are built to conserve energy and survive the Florida climate. He also prides himself in producing workable, efficient construction details and support to the contractors during construction. Many of his referrals come from contractors he has worked with in the past.
Mr. McCarty was awarded the Grand Award in a national design competition for the Affordable, Expandable Florida Home sponsored by the Florida Solar Energy Center in 1991.
Mr. McCarty donated his services in the design of Molly’s House a three story temporary shelter for people in medical crises, and also donated his services for the Palm City Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
